"As I look back on my life, every time I thought I was being REJECTED from something good, I was actually being REDIRECTED to something better.”
The older I get, the more I find myself reflecting on days, weeks, and years that have passed. I think, "why did I", "how could I"?
Along with all the amazing things that have happened in my life, I can’t help but reflect on the mistakes I made along the way. All the things that went really wrong, the things I wish I could have done better, and the things I wish I would never have done. They used to determine how my days would begin, and how each day would end.
If it wasn’t for the errors and poor judgment, I would not have learned how to "reframe" my thoughts and control my actions. I used to hold onto those painful experiences and dwell on regret, or continue to tell myself what an idiot I was.
As someone who used to be the biggest self-doubter around, I know how easy it can be to inadvertently slip into that kind of “down on yourself” thought process.
How we talk about ourselves and see ourselves is a practice, just like our weekly workout schedule is a practice.
And repeating any of what we practice over a period of time is what forms HABITS…habits that lead to outcomes and results.
No one wakes up and says, “ I think I’ll screw up today".
Negative thoughts produce negative behaviors.
Instead of viewing yourself as the victim, "reframe" your thoughts as a good person that was involved in some pretty shitty events, be your own hero and rise from the darkness and overcome all the past hurt and pain. Don't blame, don't play the victim. Own your mistakes and believe you are worthy and capable of having a good life with good people in it. You must practice self love and forgiveness in order to prevail. You must love and honor yourself as a gift from God. You are not your mistakes.
Why do we fall? So we can learn to pick ourselves up again.
It’s easier said than done but one thing I’ve learned for sure… It NEVER gets easier.
WE just get better!
The irony of life is that the more we learn from all of our mistakes.
Don’t waste another minute wallowing in darkness. Own your failures. Find the lessons. Keep moving and make the most of your life.
REMEMBER that the REASON YOU ARE HERE living your life is because you are God's greatest gift.
One day you will get sick and tired of your own BS and you will understand that everything that’s come before was an important part of your journey, and that TODAY, you are EXACTLY WHERE YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE.
Let’s appreciate all the lessons in life and let's make the best possible life ever!
Lead with guidance. Teach with knowledge. Influence by example. Leave your legacy.
