POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER or (PTSD)
"Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a set of reactions that can develop after someone has been through a traumatic event.
Any event that involves a threat to life or a serious injury has the potential to be traumatic. This includes natural disaster, war, a serious accident, physical or sexual assault. Most people will experience at least one of these types of events during their lives. "
You cant stop the thoughts and you can not make them disappear. You can however, stop them from affecting your life.
Find a safe outlet. There are healthy and safe ways to help reduce stress and anxiety driven depression that comes with PTSD. What we as suffers need to understand is childhood trauma will rear it's ugly head without warning.
I use exercise to help me get through some of the hardest days. Exercise helps relieve stress, release the "happy" hormones into the brain. It also helps build confidence and self esteem. Go for a walk, jog or run. Do a quick 15 minute body weight workout to help boost your mood and burn fat at the same time. Take a Yoga class. Join a gym or local fitness center.
Stay active and make living happy a priority!
