10 Steps To Help You Get Fit And Healthy
Fitness is a powerful word and unfortunately it is used to market clothing, pills, new fad diets, equipment, and more. When we hear the word "fitness" we often shy away because we have become bombarded with so many marketing scams. Who and what are we supposed to trust when it comes to our personal health and fitness goals?
Getting to a physical healthy state requires work. I believe that any change within ourselves will begin with our minds first. We must reprogram how we feel about ourselves before we can think about enhancing our exterior self. First mistake is comparing ourselves to anyone. This will set you up for mental challenges along the way.
One very important step is to discover all of your individual awesomeness within. Zone in on all of your great qualities instead of dwelling on your faults and weaknesses. Positive thinking eventually empowers us to step into the world of positive changes.
We are becoming more worried about our health these days (which is not a bad thing); compound this with an avalanche of advertising messages from the media that are more stressful than EVER. I can only imagine the confusion and questions as to where you should begin.
Here are a few dos and don'ts that may help. Ask yourself the following and avoid a few of the obvious.
1. Does my fitness plan have a "shelf life"? Meaning - does the product package have an expiration date like this - Expires 2/4/2018? This is something you may want to research. Anything with an extended product life is usually packed with hidden chemicals and preservatives in order to keep over the years. Your liver is one of the most important organs in fat burning, why would you want to load it with chemicals?
2. If you are buying prepackaged products, will you need to continue taking these in order to maintain your current results?
3. Remember, one size does not fit all, you must discover what works for you.
4. Does your plan require physical exercise and a nutrition plan without starving yourself?
5. Will you learn from this plan all the how tos? Implement whole/clean foods into each meal. Avoid processed foods, sugars "fake" nutrients". Do you have some breathing room with your meal plan? Can you slip now and then and still gain results?
6. Is the plan working for you? Do you feel better?
7. Are you changing your thought process about food and exercise in a positive way?
8. AVOID ALL quick fix plans. They will not work!
9. DON'T compare yourself to anyone!
Many individuals feel inadequate or are quickly discouraged about their bodies because they see images (sometimes photo-enhanced images), of "perfectly" toned bodies telling us we will look like that if we use their products or join their program. We sit back and we begin to compare ourselves to these social media images without the understanding that genetics plays a huge role in how our bodies respond to fitness. This does not mean we can not all become fit and healthy, but I guarantee you will not look like the images that are floating across your screens.
10. Do YOUR fitness for YOU only. If you find you are doing it to please another, you will end up not so motivated. Doing this for you will benefit you down the road when you are noticing positive changes not only in the physical form, but the mind has gained strength too.
Physical health and fitness is one of the toughest journeys you will take. Why? Because this does not only require getting up and being involved in physical exertion, this also requires us to strengthen our thought process along the way. You may notice a slip when we tell ourselves we cannot do something. We then act on this thought process, we compare ourselves to others' progress, and quit before we experience the thrill of a mental and physical win. This is all normal. Often times it will take many attempts to finally understand the answer was YOU all along.
Be mindful when searching for plans. Make sure the outcome will last, not break the bank, and one that you can do every day! Do your homework and research your plan, do it for you, and no matter what, DO NOT QUIT!
